CCCP Fedeli alla linea

When I came accross the below clip of the Italian band CCCP Fedeli alla linea (aired on Italian public TV somewhere in the eighties) it reminded me of the early eighties sound of the Dutch punk band The Ex (and the sound of Wormer punk bands of that era in general), and maybe even more of the Berlin scene during the NDW period.

According to wikipedia the origins of the band lay in a discotheque in Kreuzberg (Berlin). That explains.

And now for something Estonian to keep up with being International.

Portable Noise Kremator – Asynchronous Death Modeller (CDr)

LEM (short for Love Earth Music) sent me some copies of “Asynchronous Death Modeller”, the latest Portable Noise Kremator release. Most of the material on this CDr dates from 2006, and was recorded during the same period as “Three Headed Sickbed”. It was great hearing these tracks again (like a gift from my past self) – and noticing they still sound relevant after all that time. A must-have if you liked Three Headed Sickbed, or if you’re into doom infiltrated harsh noise.

Get yourself a copy from Love Earth Music, or drop me a message.

The New Psychedelica

Last sunday we went to see The New Psychedelica, an expo at Mu (still running until the 5th of june).

Not related to the expo, but in the same drawer of all other things I call psychedelic: Jefferson Airplane, with “White Rabbit”.

And just to illustrate how far 20 years of listening to noise music stretched my musical taste: Queen, with “Somebody to Love“.

I love the costumes (Freddy is wearing on stage).

John Maus at Ateliers Claus

This is “Maniac” by John Claus:

“Maniac” was the first or second song of John Maus’ set at Ateliers Claus yesterday.

If I would run into somebody and would have to explain what a John Maus show looked like, then I would more or less choose for the same approach as the guy in the clip below:

To be clear and not to be misunderstood: I liked the show.
